Life is All About the Simple Things – Have Fun, Simplify

Simplicity

Life isn’t very complicated, but we are. We have a knack for making even the simplest things complicated by thinking and worrying excessively. The easiest way to simplify our lives is to start doing the right things.

All of us are eager to make our lives less complicated. We know all that complexity is sapping us of our energy and leaving us less to live. But how can we simplify our lives?

Before we can answer that question, we should know what simplicity is.

What exactly is meant by a simple life? Of course, different definitions are possible. Do you manage to spend time with the people you love? Do you get enough time to perform activities that you enjoy doing? If your answer is ‘yes’, chances are you are leading a simple life.

The first thing you need to do to simplify your life is to get rid of the clutter. Eliminate all unnecessary things and keep only those that provide value. There are basically 2 steps to this process. The first one is to identify people and things that are important to you. The second one is to eliminate everything else.

But this is easier said than done. You are right. It simply isn’t easy to simplify our lives. However, we have got some ideas to get you started.

Let go of people and things that weren’t supposed to be yours

This isn’t easy. We are so much attached to the people we love. We can’t let go of our prized possessions. But by letting go, you will be able to move on to something much better. Sometimes the life that we planned for ourselves isn’t the one that the universe designed for us. So when you realize that a particular plan or a relationship isn’t going to work, let go of it.

Accept yourself the way you are

You have limitations, but that is fine. You are a beautiful work in progress. You are not expected to make the best decisions all the time. You are not expected to be successful in everything that you do. You may make mistakes, but that is okay. You aren’t perfect. If you were perfect, you wouldn’t be able to get any better, which is bad. So embrace your imperfection. By being imperfect, you give yourself an opportunity to improve yourself day by day.

Don’t waste time

The zen lifeis all about simplicity. This moment is the most important moment in your life, so make the most of it. The past is gone, and the future is uncertain. This moment is the only moment you can be sure of. If there is something that you want to start, start now. Don’t wait until tomorrow.

Follow your heart

Don’t worry about what other people might think about you. It is your life and you have the freedom to decide how you should live it. Follow your heart. Step out of your comfort zone. Take risks. Small minds will try to convince you that your dreams are unrealistic. Don’t listen to them.

This, however, doesn’t mean that you are free to do just about anything you want. You aren’t.

Exploit available resources

There is no point in worrying about things that are beyond your control. Instead, focus on things and situations that you can control. If you are constantly complaining about the lack of opportunities, you will not achieve anything. The key is to make the most of all available opportunities. Exploit your resources.

Be productive, not busy

There is no point in merely getting things done. The key is getting the right things done. If you spend days or weeks working on a project that isn’t worth the effort, you are simply wasting your time and energy. Don’t commit that mistake. Results matter. Don’t waste your time in pursuits that are unlikely to yield the desired results.
